Press Release: TWG-AW Meeting, May 23, 2017 – The meeting of Technical Working Group on Agriculture and Water (TWG-AW), chaired by H.E. Ty Sokhun, Secretary of State of Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) and H.E. Thor Chetha, Secretary of State of Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MoWRAM), and co-chairs of TWG-AW, was organized on 23 May, 2017 at 15:00PM at Tonle Bassac II Restaurant. The meeting was financially supported by EU-funded program “Promotion of Inclusive and Sustainable Growth in the Agricultural Sector: Fisheries and Livestock”. The participants were from senior management and line departments of both ministries, development partners (DPs), NGOs and private sectors. DPs were led by Mr. Etienne Careme, a FAO’s operation coordinator in Cambodia.
The key objectives of this meeting were (1) to follow up the progresses of each Sub-Technical Working Group (Agricultural Extension, Livestock, and Irrigation Scheme Management), (2) to discuss and provide comments on World Bank’s proposed Strategic Framework for the Irrigation Sector, (3) to discuss and endorse 2017 TWG-AW Workplan, (4) to present and consult the commented TOR of Master Plan of Agriculture 2030, and (5) to launch TWG-AW website.
The meeting had good and fruitful discussion, aiming at continuing the strengthening of partnership between government especially MAFF and MoWRAM with DPs, NGOs, and private sectors. The meeting exchanged each other’s views and explanation about the implementation of TWG-AW work.
H.E. Co-chairs appreciated DPs, NGOs, and private sectors for good partnership and cooperation in continued support of agriculture and water sector through contribution to the provision of comments and inputs for the improved performance of TWG-AW.
